JAY MIAO

Jay Miao was born and raised in the quaint coastal areas of Orange County, California. As a young lad, he grew up with his 2 younger brothers surfing and sea fishing with their father and being home schooled by their mother. He started in this business the summer before entering university working as a production assistant on Michael Jackson music videos. That was 21 years ago.

During the course of 8 years, Jay gradually climbed the Hollywood ladder, working on big budgeted blockbusters, high profile television series, and commercials until a passion towards art films overtook him.

He made a move towards Asia and worked closely the next 10 years on several landmark projects with Central Motion Pictures in Taiwan such as Ang Lee’s Pushing Hands, Eat Drink Man Woman, and the Oscar Nominated - Wedding Banquet.  Also during that time, were Tsai Ming Liang’s – Rebels of the Neon God and Vive L’Amour, winner for Best Film at the Venice International Film Festival.
Jay was then invited into the ‘Director’s Unit’ for the film Yi Yi; which won the prestigious Best Director’s Award at Cannes in 2000 for the late Edward Yang.  After which, Jay was brought in by Columbia Pictures to serve as production attaché for Columbia Pictures – Asia, where they would produce the films Double Vision, Big Shot’s Funeral, and Time & Tide.

Other notable mentions was the first ever Hollywood and China co-invested, co-produced feature film ~ Restless and Flatland; the first Hollywood produced television series to be shot entirely in China.

Fast forward to present day, after having worked with many notable directors and being a part of many award winning commercials and feature films; he is the Head of International Division at MiC * Made In China Films.

We welcome all production partners with open arms and broad smiles.  Our aim is to navigate through the course of the filmmaking process with a creative inspiration that leads us towards a gratifying end.  One, which has etched a fond memory for everyone involved.”
